Romina S. Romay is a composer, pianist, conductor
and improviser.
With a background in classical music,
she specialises
in new and experimental
computer-assisted music. Her compositions are mainly
for acousticand mixed ensembles. She makes interactive
installations,multimedia creations and educational
activities withnew technologies. As a performer, she works
with extended techniques for piano, generative music
and real-time electronics.
The themes that often appear in her artistic work are:
ecology,sustainable development and human self-exploration.
She is currently doing a PhD in Musical Composition
at the University Côte d’Azur in Nice, France,
working on microtonal composition from metadata.

” My interest in this work is to create music from the dynamic forms of vitality found in Nature. This is why I call this music compositions, in the form of electro-acoustic and acoustic pieces, graphic scores, installations and sound universes… “La Musique du Vivant”, or “Music of the living”. “

Current works
Le Tour du Monde en Réalité Mixte
Four musicians will take a virtual musical journey around the world, exploring the cultural and environmental particularities of each place. They will interpret the music through avatars, and to do this they will develop a system to use the data provided by different motion sensors to animate the image and sound.

Dreaming Fields of Action
Project being developed between the SPIIC ensemble, the University of Music and Theatre HfMt of Hamburg and an ensemble composed of students from the Conservatoire de musique de Nice and the Université de la Côte d’Azur. The first concert will take place during the “Dialogue of the Arts” days in November 2020.
